Sant'Angelo in Formis, Medieval basilica and archaeological site in Capua, Italy.
The basilica features three naves divided by Roman columns, with a decorated bell tower and five Gothic arches at the entrance portico.
The structure was built on the remains of a temple dedicated to Diana Tifatina, later becoming a Benedictine monastery in the 8th century.
The interior walls display medieval frescoes depicting biblical scenes, including a central Christ Pantocrator surrounded by the symbols of four Evangelists.
The basilica stands at 105 meters above sea level on the western slope of Mount Tifata, accessible through guided tours explaining its architecture.
Roman architectural elements were incorporated into the medieval structure, including columns, capitals, and sections of the original opus sectile flooring.
