Della Monica castle, Gothic Revival castle in Teramo, Italy
The Della Monica Castle stands on San Venanzio hill, featuring pointed windows, battlements, ditches, bastions, and secondary buildings that form a medieval village complex.
Construction started in 1889 when painter Gennaro Della Monica obtained permission from the Provincial Deputation to build his personal residence and art studio.
The interior contains numerous frescoes depicting landscapes and various subjects, all painted by Gennaro Della Monica during his time living in the castle.
The Municipality of Teramo currently owns most of the complex, except for one private residence building, and plans to reopen it for public visits.
The castle was built using materials from the former church of San Venanzio, with deliberately aged elements to create an authentic medieval appearance.
