Basilica di Sant'Agata Maggiore

The basilica features three naves, with the central nave being higher and wider than the lateral ones, separated by an arch support from the 19th century.

The church was constructed in the 5th century during the late ancient period, near the now-vanished Padenna River, under the guidance of Bishop Peter II.

The presbytery extends into the nave, featuring a central high altar with an ancient sixth-century pluteus forming its frontal section.

The basilica maintains regular service schedules and welcomes visitors interested in exploring its architectural elements and historical artifacts.

A drawing by Father Pronti provides the only remaining representation of the original mosaic that once decorated the apse before earthquake damage.
