Autodromo di Vairano - Automotive Safety Center
The Autodromo di Vairano is a testing and training facility in Vidigulfo, Lombardy, featuring a 2.8 kilometer track with multiple sections for different driving scenarios. The complex includes straight sections for speed testing, curved handling areas, low-grip surfaces, and off-road terrain designed for various vehicle types and driving techniques.
The facility was established in 1995 as a testing ground for the automotive magazine Quattroruote, designed to provide a controlled environment for realistic driving assessments. Over the decades, it expanded with additional tracks and off-road sections, becoming a respected European center for vehicle development and driver training.
Check the schedule in advance as various training courses and testing events occur throughout the year at different times. The location is accessible from nearby towns with adequate parking, and visitors are expected to follow safety guidelines while on the grounds.
The site was originally founded specifically for the magazine Quattroruote and remains one of few places in Europe where driver-assistance systems and emerging vehicle technologies are tested under realistic conditions. Collaboration with the University of Pavia supports ongoing research on autonomous driving systems and safety innovations.
