Visconti Park, Medieval hunting park in Pavia, Italy

Visconti Park is a large green space situated between Pavia and the Certosa monastery, surrounded by historic walls. The landscape contains protected natural areas, forest paths, and water features that remain accessible to visitors today.

The park was created in the mid-14th century by the Visconti family as a hunting territory. During a major military conflict in the 16th century, the grounds suffered considerable damage.

The park served as a gathering place for the Visconti and later Sforza rulers, where power and leisure intertwined in court life. Visitors today can still sense the grand scale of entertainment and hunting that defined aristocratic life here.

Visitors can explore the grounds through walking and cycling paths that lead through different areas. The best time to visit is during dry weather, as many routes pass through natural landscapes.

The park once housed large herds of game animals kept for the royal family's enjoyment. Special facilities such as a heated bathing pool show that the grounds served as both a hunting zone and a place of leisure.
