Casa Barezzi

Casa Barezzi is a music museum in Busseto that preserves original items from the life of a major musical patron. The collection includes letters, portraits, manuscripts, and a piano that together document the development of a young composer in the 1800s.

Antonio Barezzi opened his house in 1830 to a young musician, offering shelter, money, and space to develop his skills. This support proved crucial for the career of one of the most celebrated composers of that era.

The Salone Barezzi was where musicians and music lovers gathered regularly for performances and conversations. The space shows how a wealthy household functioned as a meeting place for musical exchange and artistic discussion.

The museum is located in the old town and is open Tuesday through Sunday. Visitors can buy tickets at the entrance and arrange for a guided tour when they arrive.

On the first floor sits the workspace where opera scores were written that would later appear on stages across Europe. The room still feels as though you are interrupting the composer while at work.
