Casa degli artisti, Art residence in Brera district, Milan, Italy.
Description
Casa degli Artisti is a multi-story palazzo that now functions as an art center near Corso Garibaldi. The building houses working studios for artists, exhibition spaces, a small bistro, and outdoor garden areas.
History
The brothers Bogani founded this as an artist residence in 1909, and it narrowly avoided demolition during Milan's urban renewal in the 1930s. The building survived these pressures and has remained a gathering place for creators ever since.
Culture
The center serves as a working studio space where artists from different disciplines come together and share ideas. You can sense the creative activity happening in real time as people move between workshops and exhibitions.
Practical
The location sits at the corner of Via Tommaso da Cazzaniga and Corso Garibaldi and opens from midday to 9 PM, Tuesday through Sunday. It is easily reached on foot and sits in a busy neighborhood with good public transit connections.
Did you know?
The building preserves original brickwork and concrete structures from its founding era, carefully maintained during a comprehensive restoration in 2015. This makes it a rare example of authentic early-20th-century artist architecture in Milan.
