Castello di Cavernago, Medieval fortress in Cavernago, Italy

The Castello di Cavernago features a square layout with double loggias, surrounded by a moat and complemented by extensive gardens crossed by streams.

The castle gained importance in 1470 when Bartolomeo Colleoni acquired the property and transformed it into a fortified residence for his family.

The interior walls display ornate frescoes created by notable artists including Giacomo Barbello di Lodi and Gian Battista Azzola during the 17th century.

Located 14 kilometers from Bergamo and 57 kilometers from Milan, the castle opens its doors for guided tours during Open Castles Days.
