Museo e villaggio africano

Located inside a 15th-century convent, the museum displays a collection of African artifacts, sculptures, masks, and traditional dwellings across three floors.

The museum opened in 1984 in Calcinate with ethnographic materials gathered from Passionist missions in Kenya and Tanzania during the 1960s and 1980s.

The permanent collection contains thirty-three pre-colonial artworks from Western and Central Africa, including wooden sculptures from Dogon and Lobi peoples.

The museum welcomes 15,000 visitors annually and provides facilities such as a bookstore, parking lot, cloakroom, and wireless internet connection.

The outdoor African Village section presents different types of African housing structures that demonstrate the relationship between environment and cultural expression.
