Castello di Gorzone, Medieval castle in Gorzone, Italy

The castle rises on a rocky outcrop between Gorzone village and the Dezzo River, featuring pointed arch windows and sturdy stone walls.

Built in 1160 by the Brusati family, who later became the Federici, the castle formed an alliance with Frederick Barbarossa during medieval times.

The internal courtyard contains a Venetian-style loggia with arches and columns, representing the architectural transformation from fortress to noble residence.

The main entrance features a wide 14th-century portal preceded by a paved ramp, making the castle approachable through Via Castello.

The castle includes coffered ceilings, decorated halls, and partially collapsed galleries that connect to the exterior through underground passages.
