Monte Scanapà, Mountain summit in Lombardy, Italy.
Monte Scanapà is a mountain in Lombardy that rises to 1,669 meters within the Monte Pora range. The terrain features dense fir forests mixed with open grassy slopes and ski runs, positioned between Passo della Presolana and Castione.
The mountain became a center for winter sports during the 19th century as infrastructure developed to serve visitors. Multiple lifts and runs were gradually built to make the slopes more accessible to skiers.
In winter and summer, the mountain draws different types of visitors who shape how the space is used: skiers fill the slopes during snow season, while hikers explore the meadows and forests when the weather warms. The lift stations and trails form the backbone of how people interact with the mountain throughout the year.
Hikers can start from Passo della Presolana and follow various trails that cross the mountain terrain. Come prepared with proper footwear and weather-appropriate clothing, as conditions change quickly at higher elevations.
From the top, you can see in all directions to distant mountains including the Scalvini ranges, Concarena, Presolana, Pizzo Formico, Arera, and Alben. The eastern slope holds the Salto degli Sposi, a dramatic cliff drop tied to a tragic event from 1871.
