Ca' Zenobio, Renaissance villa in Treviso, Italy
Ca' Zenobio is a Renaissance villa in Treviso built with a square design and a central hall on the ground floor that anchors the entire layout. The upper levels repeat this same organized arrangement, creating a balanced and symmetrical structure throughout the building.
The villa was originally built in 1680 by Don Domenico Biscaro and later changed owners several times. In 1779, Count Verità Zenobio purchased the property, which then carried his family name.
The Music Hall displays frescoes by Venetian painter Gregorio Lazzarini showing mythological scenes and romantic tales from the 18th century. The painted walls bring stories of gods and love to life with vivid colors and graceful figures.
Since June 2021, the park and music hall have been open to visitors interested in exploring the grounds and enjoying the decorated interior spaces. Plan to wear comfortable shoes as you will walk through outdoor areas and move between different sections of the building.
The frescoes in the barchessa were created by Francesco Fontebasso using trick-of-the-eye techniques to portray historical events across large walls. These illusions make flat surfaces appear to have depth and dimension, creating an almost sculptural quality on painted walls.
