Ca' Zenobio degli Armeni, Baroque palace in Dorsoduro, Italy
Ca' Zenobio degli Armeni is a Baroque palace in Dorsoduro featuring ornate interior rooms and verdant gardens. The building contains decorated halls with frescoes, a two-story ballroom, and landscaped grounds that extend along the Rio Carmini canal.
This palace was built between 1690 and 1700 under architect Antonio Gaspari who replaced an earlier Gothic structure on the site. The land had previously belonged to the Morosini family before passing into Zenobio hands.
From 1851 to 1997, this palace functioned as an Armenian school where students from different backgrounds learned together. The rooms still reflect this period of educational exchange and cultural gathering.
The palace sits along Fondamenta del Soccorso and opens daily except Mondays, allowing flexible visit planning. Accessibility can be affected by water and tide conditions, so checking conditions before your visit is helpful.
The ceiling paintings by Louis Dorigny depict Aurora and the Carriage of Apollo in various rooms throughout the building. Other spaces showcase scenes from the life of Queen Zenobia, the historical figure after whom the family took their name.
