Scuola dei Varoteri, Venetian guildhall in Campo Santa Margherita, Italy
The Scuola dei Varoteri stands as a two-story brick structure in Campo Santa Margherita, featuring Renaissance reliefs that decorate its distinct facade.
Founded in 1311 as a confraternity of tanners and furriers, the guild relocated to this location in 1725, marking a significant shift from Cannaregio.
The second floor houses a marble relief of the Madonna della Misericordia from 1501, which was transferred from the original guild church.
The building has served multiple functions through centuries, including a firewood store, movie theater, and currently stands as a testament to Venice's guild system.
Among nearly 400 former minor guildhalls in Venice, this structure remains notable for its independent position within the large Campo Santa Margherita square.
