Castello di San Pietro

The Castello di San Pietro is a fortified residence containing around thirty furnished rooms, including two main halls, kitchens, dungeons, and a courtyard with double-tiered arches. The rectangular layout reflects the typical organization of a Renaissance noble dwelling with its distinct functional areas.

A jurist and papal court ambassador began construction of this fortified residence in 1460, requiring more than three decades to complete. The extended building period reflects the ambitious design and the property's importance to the family.

The castle houses contemporary artworks and replica warrior statues in its underground spaces. Visitors can experience these modern collections alongside the medieval architecture of the fortress.

The site is open on Sundays and holidays from March through November, with guided tours offered in multiple languages. It is advisable to verify opening times in advance and allow sufficient time to explore the various rooms and chambers.

The castle features an extensive weapons museum displaying a substantial collection of historic armaments organized throughout dedicated exhibition spaces. This assemblage documents centuries of military craftsmanship and personal armory traditions.
