Castle of Savignone

The Castle of Savignone stands on a conglomerate spur with a semi-circular great tower and a rear rampart, protected by a natural cliff defense of 150 meters.

Constructed in 1207, the castle became a stronghold of the Fieschi family in the 13th century, controlling the important trade route between Genoa and the Po Valley.

The structure represents medieval fortification architecture and reflects the power dynamics of noble families who controlled the region during the Middle Ages.

Visitors can reach the castle through a 15-minute uphill trail from the village of Savignone, climbing an elevation of 150 meters to the entrance.

The southern tower remains intact among the ruins, offering views of Valle Scrivia while its gray walls blend with the surrounding rocky landscape.
