Castello di Torregalli

Castello di Torregalli is a Baroque residence in Florence positioned between two rivers and built with stone octagonal pillars and arched openings. The interior contains a courtyard with medieval-style battlements and decorated halls.

The property first appeared in written records in 1427 under a Florentine merchant's ownership. It later passed to the Galli family, who reshaped it in the early 1600s.

The main hall displays frescoes showing pastoral love scenes inspired by literary works. These paintings were created during a major renovation in the early 1600s.

The property sits on Via di Scandicci and opens its gardens and decorated halls to visitors on specific days each month. Plan ahead since access is limited to scheduled times.

A historical inventory from 1714 records that the gardens once featured statues of nymphs and decorative fountains. Today only fragments of this former embellishment remain visible.
