Sant'Agata al Collegio

Sant'Agata al Collegio stands at the end of Corso Umberto with a scenographic staircase that splits into two balustraded flights leading to its facade.

The construction of this religious building started in 1588 under the patronage of Luisa Moncada and her son Francesco II, with completion achieved in 1628.

The interior square nave contains four lateral chapels decorated with intricate stucco work completed in 1647 by Giacomo and Giuseppe Serpotta.

The altar dedicated to Saint Ignatius features a representation of the saint with gilded rays symbolizing the four continents known in the 17th century.
