Col Visentin, Mountain summit in Veneto, Italy
Col Visentin is a mountain summit rising to 1,763 meters in the Bellunese Alps that divides the provinces of Belluno and Treviso. The terrain features forested slopes on the lower sections and more open areas toward the peak.
The mountain was named after exiled residents from Vicenza who sought refuge in this area in 1486 following rejection by Treviso. This early settlement established the connection between the peak and nearby communities.
The mountain serves as a natural boundary that locals have long recognized, creating a shared sense of place for communities on both sides. Hikers from the surrounding villages view it as an accessible peak that brings people together.
Multiple hiking trails lead to the summit from either the Nevegal resort area to the north or through forested paths from the south. The best time to visit is during warmer months when trails are dry and easier to navigate.
On clear days, the summit reveals panoramic views spanning from the Venetian Lagoon to the Dolomites, with sightlines to Mount Pizzoc and the Euganean Hills. These distant vistas make it a notable observation point for the broader alpine and lowland landscape.
