Mazzini Gallery, Commercial gallery in central Genoa, Italy.
Mazzini Gallery connects Piazza Corvetto and Piazza De Ferrari through a covered passage that runs between these two central squares. The structure features glass domes, bronze chandeliers, and cast-iron decorative elements throughout, with numerous shops, bookstores, bars, and restaurants lining the walkway.
Built between 1866 and 1877, the gallery drew inspiration from Parisian passages and Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in its design. It underwent significant renovations in the 1990s and 2001, which modernized its interiors and refreshed its appearance.
The gallery functions as a traditional meeting place where locals walk, shop, and gather in cafés throughout the day. It remains woven into daily city life and reflects Genoa's identity as a commercial hub.
The covered passage is easily accessible and provides shelter from poor weather, making it a comfortable place to walk through. Within the gallery you'll find shops, cafés, and restaurants, and its central location makes it simple to move between the adjacent squares.
The gallery floor features large octagonal mosaics made of marble and brass that were installed during renovations following the Columbus celebrations. These decorative elements shape the passage's appearance and are easily overlooked by visitors passing through.
