Grignetta

Grignetta is a mountain summit in the Orobic Alps reaching 2177 meters, with four main ridges extending from its central peak toward different directions. The steep terrain and rock formations create a challenging environment that draws experienced hikers and climbers.

During the 20th century, renowned climbers including Riccardo Cassin and Walter Bonatti used the slopes to develop and refine alpine climbing methods. Their work on these challenging terrain helped shape modern mountaineering practice in the region.

The mountain stands as a center for climbing education in northern Italy, where generations of climbers learn traditional mountaineering techniques.

Several hiking trails reach the summit, with the Rifugio Rosalba serving as a base for accessing the various ridges and offering lodging facilities. Proper mountain shoes and rock climbing experience are important, particularly for the more technical ridge sections.

The summit features the Bivacco Ferrario, a small shelter that provides protection when weather conditions turn unexpectedly harsh. This simple refuge can be a lifesaver for climbers caught in sudden storms or poor visibility.
