Grotto Calgeron, Natural cave in Grigno, Valsugana, Italy

Grotto Calgeron is a cave near Grigno in the Valsugana valley that extends through limestone formations with multiple chambers and passages. Inside you will find underground lakes, mineral formations, and water-carved geological features that reveal how nature shaped the rock over time.

The cave formed during the Riss glaciation period roughly 250,000 years ago, as shown by white clay layers preserved inside. This ancient origin reveals how long water and geological forces have been shaping this location.

The cave received its alternative name, GB Trener, in recognition of a significant geological researcher who contributed to the understanding of regional cave formations.

The initial sections of the cave are easy to explore and do not require special equipment for a basic visit. Deeper areas are only accessible with professional guides and proper preparation.

Lake Pasa is an underground water body with remarkable size that ranks among the largest in the cave system. This lake offers a rare view of how water collects and flows within the limestone depths.
