Grotta del Vento, Natural cave system in Garfagnana, Italy

The Grotta del Vento extends through multiple levels within the Apuan Alps, featuring underground rivers, waterfalls, and numerous limestone formations.

Professor Giovanni Capellini from the University of Bologna made the first recorded exploration of the cave system in 1878, documenting fossil discoveries.

The cave serves as a research center for scientists studying climatology, geology, and underground ecosystems in the Tuscany region.

Visitors can choose between three different guided routes through the cave, ranging from one to three hours, with temperatures remaining at 10.7°C.

Strong air currents surge through the cave entrance due to atmospheric pressure differences, leading to its name which translates to Wind Cave.
