Torba Abbey

The monastery complex includes a defensive tower, church, and living quarters situated within the archaeological park of Castelseprio near Milan.

Romans constructed the site in the fifth century as a military outpost, which later transformed into a Benedictine monastery during the eighth century.

The monastery contains preserved frescoes from the Benedictine period, displaying religious themes and decorative elements characteristic of medieval Italian art.

Visitors can explore the monastery from Wednesday to Sunday between February and December, with guided tours available through Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano.

The site preserves one of northern Italy's rare examples of Roman defensive architecture integrated into a religious complex that spans fifteen centuries.
