Monte Carmo di Loano, Mountain summit in Liguria, Italy.
Monte Carmo di Loano is a mountain peak in the Ligurian Prealps that rises to 1389 meters. Its north-facing slope is covered with thick forest, while the south side shows rocky cliffs and exposed terrain.
The name comes from a pre-Latin word 'kar' meaning stone or rock. Documents from the 1500s referred to it as Monte Calvo.
The mountain forms part of the Prealpi Liguri range and stands as a designated Site of Community Importance within the M.Carmo - M.Settepani conservation area.
The mountain can be reached from several starting points including Pietra Ligure, Ranzi, Giogo di Toirano, and Colle del Melogno. Each route offers its own level of challenge and different views along the way.
On clear days, the summit cross offers views that extend all the way to Corsica, the entire Ligurian Riviera, and many peaks of the Ligurian Alps. These distant vistas make the climb rewarding for photography.
