Mulino del Dosso, Ethnographic museum in Rasura, Italy
The Mulino del Dosso is a restored grain mill situated along the Rio stream, marking the boundary between Rasura and Cosio Valtellino in Sondrio province. The building preserves the original machinery for processing grain, with complete systems running from the hopper where grain enters through to the final sifting stage.
This mill was constructed in the late 1700s and supplied residents with flour for bread and polenta for nearly two centuries. It later ceased operations but was eventually restored to working condition as a museum.
The collection displays the tools and equipment that people once used for their daily grain processing work in this valley. You can see how residents approached the task of turning raw grain into finished flour through their inherited methods.
Guided tours allow you to watch the restored machinery in action and observe the complete grain milling process from start to finish. Wear comfortable shoes as the path to the mill and areas inside have uneven surfaces.
The roof was built by specialized craftsmen called Teciàtt using local stone and ancient construction methods that are now rarely seen. This traditional roofing represents a regional building skill that has nearly disappeared in modern times.
