Monte Ponteranica

Monte Ponteranica reaches an elevation of 2,378 meters and features three distinct peaks: Eastern, Central, and Western summits within the Orobie Alps.

The mountain area contains military installations from World War I, particularly visible near the Verrobbio pass at 2,026 meters elevation.

Since the 16th century, local families have practiced seasonal livestock management, sending cattle to graze on the 150-hectare alpine pasture during summer months.

The ascent begins at Ca' San Marco at 1,830 meters, following trail number 40 or a carriage road from Mezzoldo through a series of switchbacks.

The mountain features natural water pools along its broad southern ridge, leading to Monte Colombarolo through a challenging climb over rocky formations.
