Resistenza Park, Public park near Via Tabacchi, Milan, Italy
Resistenza Park is a public green space in Milan with walking paths, basketball courts, and shade trees including maple, elm, and oak. The site contains a playground, dog area, and water facilities for visitors to use.
The land served as a cemetery from 1787 to 1895 before becoming a residential neighborhood called Villaggio Giardino Baravalle. In 1964 this neighborhood was demolished to make way for the park that opened in 1970.
The name chosen in 2013 honors the Italian resistance fighters of World War II, giving the space a commemorative purpose. Visitors walking through the park today are surrounded by this historical memory woven into its identity.
Multiple entry points are located along Via Tabacchi, Via Giambologna, Viale Tibaldi, Via Balilla, and Via Baravalle. Weekday visits tend to be quieter, making it easier to find peaceful spots throughout the green space.
The pathway layout inside the park still traces the routes of the old streets from the former residential neighborhood. Walking through reveals this hidden layer of the area's previous life.
