Sarfatti Building, University building in Milan, Italy

The Sarfatti Building is a university structure in Milan featuring a cross-shaped floor plan with geometric precision. It contains two lion sculptures in the entrance hall and decorative bas-relief panels along its exterior porch.

Architect Giuseppe Pagano designed this structure in 1937, and it opened in 1941 as the inaugural building of the Bocconi University campus. Its creation occurred during a formative period for modern architectural practices in Italy.

The building embodies Italian Rationalist design through its strict geometric forms and clean lines. This functional approach to construction reflects architectural ideas that shaped many European institutions during that era.

The building is accessible Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 9 PM and contains classrooms, study areas, and dining facilities. Keep in mind that the interior is actively used during these hours and follows the academic calendar.

Sculptor Arturo Martini created the medieval-style lion sculptures that adorn the main entrance. Additional artistic touches by Leone Todi appear as bas-relief panels integrated into the exterior along Via Sarfatti.
