Memorie Industriali park

Memorie Industriali is a green space in southern Milan built on the site of former manufacturing facilities. The park contains walking paths, rest areas, and preserved industrial elements such as overhead machinery integrated throughout its layout.

The site originally housed OM Officine Meccaniche manufacturing operations until production ceased in 1994. Following this closure, urban planners initiated a recovery project to transform the abandoned industrial land into public green space.

The park takes its name from the industrial memory it preserves, with design elements that acknowledge the factories that once operated here. Visitors walking through encounter traces of this working past woven into plantings and sculptures that mark the transformation.

The park is organized into distinct sections that help visitors navigate and find their preferred activities. Good walking shoes are recommended since paths pass through varying terrain and landscape changes.

The park protects a waterway habitat where moorhens and mallards nest and feed, creating a refuge for wildlife in the city. This ecological feature demonstrates how urban green space can support birds and aquatic life.
