Parco Forlanini, Urban park in eastern Milan, Italy

Parco Forlanini is a Milan park facing Linate airport, crossed in its western part by the Lambro river and threaded by a dense network of tree-lined paths. In the north-east lies the Laghetto Salesina, fed by groundwater and rain, whose surrounding vegetation shelters birds and fish. The green tissue holds the Codovero mill and old farmsteads such as Cascina Cavriano.

Parco Forlanini opened in 1970 after three years of works that enhanced the centuries-old structure of the Lombard agricultural landscape. Its creation spared the area from the building speculation of the 1960s and 1970s, so the Codovero mill and old farmsteads such as Cascina Cavriano, documented from the early 11th century, survived within the green space.

The park is named after Enrico Forlanini, the Milanese aviation pioneer, and faces Linate airport, which also bears his name. Inside, the 17th-century three-arched portico of Cascina Cavriano still carries the emblem of a dove with an olive branch, the symbol of the Ospedale Maggiore, which owned the farmstead for centuries until the early 1970s.

Multiple bus lines and tram stations connect directly to the park entrances, with parking available along the edges. Bring comfortable walking shoes since there are many paths to explore throughout the grounds.

The water features in the park form a network of connected areas that provide habitat for numerous local bird species. This water system plays an important role in supporting the park's natural diversity.
