Pallanza, District on Lake Maggiore in Verbania, Italy.
Pallanza is a district on the western shore of Lake Maggiore in Verbania, positioned at the foot of the Alps and lined with elegant villas and waterfront buildings. These structures face the Borromean Gulf and form a continuous lakeside residential area.
Pallanza was originally an independent municipality until it merged with neighboring Intra in 1939 through a royal decree. This merger created the modern city of Verbania and ended its existence as a separate administrative entity.
The Landscape Museum in Palazzo Viani-Dugnani displays regional artworks and shows how artists have portrayed the local territory across different periods. Visitors can observe how the representation of the landscape and surroundings evolved through the collection.
The district connects to major road networks through the A26 motorway exit and offers regular ferry services across the lake year-round. Visitors can easily reach the waterfront and local piers directly from the town center.
The district hosted the 1906 European Rowing Championships, demonstrating its role in early international athletics. This event brought competitors and spectators from across the continent to its shores.
