Parco di Pinocchio, Theme park and open-air museum in Collodi, Italy
Parco di Pinocchio is an open-air museum and theme park in Collodi near Pescia that traces the story of the wooden puppet through sculptures and installations. The grounds consist of several garden areas connected by pathways, featuring both bronze figures and works in marble.
The site opened in 1956 and was dedicated from the start to Carlo Collodi's tale about the wooden puppet. It evolved from a simple garden into a place where art and literature come together for visitors to experience.
The place takes its name from the village where Carlo Lorenzini was born, who adopted the pen name Collodi for his literary work. Artists from the region created works focusing on specific scenes from the tale, offering a tangible interpretation of the story.
The pathways are suitable for wheelchairs and lead through shaded areas, making a visit comfortable even on warm days. A small theater and spaces for activities complement the walk through the garden grounds.
Next to each sculpture there is a text excerpt from the original book, allowing visitors to follow the plot as they walk. The sequence of works forms a walkable version of the literary narrative.
