Punta Martin, Mountain summit in Liguria, Italy
Punta Martin is a mountain summit in the Ligurian Apennines with steep slopes and natural rock formations along its walking paths. The peak stands at roughly 1000 meters elevation and provides views across surrounding ridges and down toward the coast.
The mountain became part of the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri trail network, connecting historical trading routes that merchants used between coastal and inland communities. These passages allowed commerce to flow across the mountain passes for centuries.
Local hiking groups regularly organize guided excursions to Punta Martin, teaching participants about regional geology and Mediterranean vegetation patterns.
The walking route starts from the Piani di Praglia parking area and follows marked trails through the mountain slopes. Most hikers need about three to four hours for the climb and descent, depending on pace and breaks.
On clear days, visitors can spot the island of Corsica across the Mediterranean from the summit. At the same time, they can watch the activities of Genoa port far below along the coast.
