Riserva naturale Lago di Posta Fibreno

The reserve spans 400 hectares around a lake at 300 meters altitude, featuring underwater springs that maintain water temperature at 10-11 degrees Celsius throughout the year.

The regional government established Lago di Posta Fibreno Nature Reserve in 1983 to protect the local ecosystem and manage environmental conservation efforts in the area.

Local fishing traditions incorporate the nàuə, a traditional boat used for collecting algae and maintaining the lake's ecological balance.

The reserve offers marked trails with observation points for bird watching, scientific research stations, and facilities for underwater diving activities.

The lake contains a floating island called La Rota, formed by vegetation rooted directly in the water, which was documented by Pliny the Elder.
