Riserva naturale orientata Isola Bella, Nature reserve on a small island in Taormina, Italy
The reserve encompasses diverse Mediterranean vegetation, exotic plants, and marine environments across one square kilometer connected to mainland by sand.
Ferdinand I of Bourbon presented the island to Taormina in 1806, following which it underwent multiple ownership changes until becoming a protected area.
The site contains remnants of ancient Roman structures and a museum within Florence Trevelyan's former residence displaying natural history collections.
The reserve welcomes visitors daily except Mondays from 9:00 AM until sunset, with guided tours limited to groups of 15 people.
The protected area features small terraces with stairs, Mediterranean flora, and underwater archaeological remains including shipwrecks near its shores.
