Rifugio Torre di Pisa, Mountain hut at Cima Cavignon in Predazzo, Italy
Rifugio Torre di Pisa is a mountain hut on Cima Cavignon in the Latemar range at 2671 meters elevation. It provides lodging across four dormitories with 36 beds total and meals for mountain travelers.
The refuge was built in 1981 and completely renovated in 2017. Its role developed as a crucial resting point for climbers traveling through this Dolomite area.
The Gabrielli family runs the refuge and cooks regional dishes following Trentino-Alto Adige traditions. Visitors can see how mountain families welcome guests while keeping old customs alive.
The refuge is open from mid-June through early October with basic shared facilities and dormitory-style sleeping. Visitors should book in advance and bring sturdy footwear plus layered clothing for changing mountain weather.
The refuge takes its name from a tilted rock formation called Torre di Pisa, which rises about 40 meters and leans at an angle similar to its Tuscan namesake. This stone needle is visible from the shelter and creates an unexpected connection between the mountains and the lowlands.
