Scoleta dei calegheri, Gothic palace in Campo San Tomà, Venice, Italy

Scoleta dei Calegheri is a palace in Venice that served as a shoemakers' guild hall and displays typical Venetian Gothic style. The brick facade features a large portal with a characteristic pointed arch typical of the period.

The building was constructed in 1478 to serve as the headquarters of Venice's shoemakers guild. It became a significant gathering place for the city's leather and shoe craftspeople.

A stone relief by Antonio Rizzo adorns the facade, showing Saint Mark healing Saint Anianus. This work demonstrates how craftspeople connected their trade to their faith and remains visible on the building today.

The building now houses the San Tomà district library and is accessible from the campo. The interior is open to the public and preserves the original structure of the gothic palace.

Three carved shoe symbols decorate the beam beneath the pointed arch on the facade. These details immediately signal the building's original purpose as a guild hall for a specific trade.
