Casa di Goldoni

Casa di Goldoni is a Gothic palace from the 15th century with typical Venetian features such as pointed arch windows and terracotta floors, located in the San Polo district. The building contains several floors with rooms that offer insights into family life and showcase a significant collection related to theater history.

The palace was built in the 15th century and from 1707 onwards served as the birthplace of renowned playwright Carlo Goldoni. After restoration work, it opened as a municipal museum in 1931 and has since preserved memories of the family's life and their connection to the Venetian theater world.

The residence was home to Carlo Goldoni, one of Italy's most important playwrights, and the rooms show how Venetian merchants and artists lived in the 18th century. You can see how the household objects and furnishings connect to the story of theater during that time.

The museum is housed in a historic building with multiple floors, though not all areas are fully accessible. The collection is explained through informative panels that make it easy to understand the displays even without prior knowledge.

Inside is an elaborately reconstructed theater scene with historical puppets from the 18th century, showing how Goldoni had his works staged. This recreation gives visitors a direct sense of the theatrical art that inspired the playwright.
