Spitz di Tonezza, Mountain summit in Tonezza del Cimone, Italy
Spitz di Tonezza is a mountain in the Vicentine Alps that reaches 1,694 meters (5,560 feet) in elevation. Its southern slope is forested while the northern face drops steeply in exposed rock.
The area served as a strategic military position during World War I where Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces battled for control. The mountainous terrain made it a contested stronghold along the front line.
The mountain connects to local Alpine traditions through marked trails and viewpoints that showcase the geological heritage of the Veneto region.
The climb begins at Chiesetta del Restelle chapel and follows marked trails suitable for hikers of varying abilities. Spring and summer offer the best conditions for the ascent.
From the summit you can observe a striking contrast between the sheer cliffs on the northern side and the gentler slopes of the Tonezza plateau to the south. This change in landscape reveals the different geological formation on each side of the peak.
