Monte Toraro rises to 1897 meters in the Prealpi Venete range, featuring steep slopes and extensive trail networks across its varied terrain.
During World War I, Austrian forces captured Monte Toraro in May 1916, establishing military positions and constructing an intricate system of tunnels.
The mountain connects multiple communities in the Veneto region, where local farmers maintain traditional agricultural methods in the surrounding valleys.
Visitors can start their hike from Valico di Valbona, following a paved road that leads to the summit through a moderate 115-meter elevation gain.
The mountain served as an anti-aircraft missile defense position during the Cold War, with nearby Base Tuono explaining its military strategic importance.
