Stadio Porta Elisa is a football stadium in Lucca with a grass pitch measuring 105 by 68 meters and seating for around 7,400 spectators total. The grounds are divided into sections for home and away supporters, with some seats positioned under covered areas.
The stadium opened in 1935 following designs by architects Raffaello Fagnoni and Enrico Bianchini as a municipal facility. Over time it has become an important part of Lucca's sporting life.
The stadium takes its name from Porta Elisa, an eastern gate in Lucca's historic walls named after Elisa Baciocchi Bonaparte. This connection ties the venue to the city's broader historical story and its links to the Napoleonic era.
The stadium occupies a block bounded by viale della Circonvallazione, via Gramsci, via Barbantini and via dello Stadio, near Porta Elisa. The away section sits on the east side, where part of the old athletics track was removed to build it. The west curve, rebuilt in 1978 with prefabricated elements, holds up to 4,500 spectators.
The stadium's name was never official: at its 1935 opening it was the Stadio Comunale del Littorio, renamed simply Stadio Comunale after fascism. Fans kept calling it Porta Elisa because it stands beside the gate of that name in Lucca's walls. The brick cladding on the curves echoes the nearby city wall.
