Casa del boia, Historic palace near San Salvatore bastion in Lucca, Italy.
The Casa del Boia features three floors and includes an underground gallery with cross vaults supported by stone pillars and ancient cannons.
After being assigned to executioner Tommaso Jona in 1825, the building maintained its connection to the judicial system until Italy's unification.
The museum inside Casa del Boia presents exhibits about the Via Francigena, focusing on themes of travel, faith, and historical journeys.
The museum opens Thursday through Sunday, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with entry tickets priced at 5 euros.
During recent excavations, workers uncovered and preserved the stone base of a medieval city wall tower, partially demolished during the bastion construction.
