Torre Squillace, Renaissance coastal tower in Nardò, Italy.
The square tower stands 50 meters from the sea at one meter altitude, featuring typical military architecture of the Mediterranean coast.
Completed in 1570 by Pensino Tarantino from Copertino, the tower formed part of a defense network against Turkish and Corsair invasions.
The structure bears the local name Li Scianuri, derived from scilla, a wild onion species growing abundantly in the surrounding area.
The tower maintains communication points with Torre Sant'Isidoro to the south and Torre Cesarea to the north along the coastal defense line.
The structure belongs to the Nardò series towers, constructed by the father-son duo Vincenzo and Angelo Spalletta from the region.
