Torre dei Della Bella, Medieval tower in Florence, Italy
The Torre dei Della Bella rises 30 meters above Florence with a square base structure constructed from white, red, and green marble blocks.
Built in the 1200s as part of Florence's defensive walls designed by Arnolfo di Cambio, the tower marked an important entrance to the city.
The tower features intricate marble panels depicting biblical scenes, human activities, and statues representing prophets and religious figures throughout its levels.
Visitors can climb 160 steps to reach the viewing area, with access available during summer afternoons from June 24th to September 30th.
The structure maintains its original height, unlike many other Florentine towers that were reduced, due to its protected location near San Miniato hill.
