Castello dell'Acciaiolo

The rectangular complex includes two entrance towers, Ghibelline battlements, a stone keep, and remnants of a 17th-century Italian garden with mosaic decorations.

Originally built in the 14th century by the Rucellai family, the property changed ownership multiple times before Roberto Acciaioli acquired it in 1546.

The structure evolved from a military fortress controlling the Arno River to a noble residence with agricultural activities during the Acciaioli family period.

The Municipality of Scandicci maintains the castle for educational and research activities since its acquisition in 1999 and subsequent restoration in 2008.

The north tower still displays the coat of arms of the Davizzi family, whose member Neri was exiled from Florence for poisoning his captive wife.
