Villa di Castelpulci, Renaissance villa in Scandicci, Italy.
Villa di Castelpulci is a villa in Scandicci located in the Arno Valley, featuring an impressive 18th-century facade designed by architect Gioacchino Fortini. Inside, it contains a medieval chapel with valuable religious artworks and frescoed walls.
The building started as a medieval castle owned by the Cadolingi counts. Over time it changed hands, passing through the control of various noble families including the Pulci, Orsini, Soderini, and Riccardi.
The chapel inside holds 13th-century frescoes showing scenes from Saint Catherine of Alexandria's life, painted by Grifo di Tancredi and still visible today.
The building now houses the Superior School of Magistracy following a major restoration completed in 2012. Check ahead before visiting since access may be limited due to institutional use.
During the 1966 Florence flood, the building temporarily sheltered books from the National Library to protect them from water. This shows how the property has served important functions for the region across centuries.
