Corigliano Calabro Castle

Corigliano Calabro Castle is a medieval fortress built on a hilltop with four corner towers and thick stone walls that overlook the Ionian Sea. Norman soldiers built the fortress in 1073 as a military post to protect the southern entrance to the Sybaris plain. It later transformed into a noble residence while keeping its original defensive features.
