Corigliano-Rossano, Administrative division in Calabria, Italy
Corigliano-Rossano is a municipality in Calabria stretching between the Sila mountains and the Ionian coast, encompassing farmland, pine forests, and residential areas. The administrative area combines flat plains near the shore with hillier terrain inland.
The municipality formed in March 2018 when Corigliano Calabro and Rossano merged following a referendum where residents voted strongly in favor. This union brought together two historically separate administrative areas.
The town consists of several neighborhoods, each preserving their own traditions tied to harvests, religious celebrations, and community life. These local customs are woven into the everyday rhythms of the people who live here.
The area is best explored using different routes depending on whether you prefer coastal sections or mountain slopes. Understanding the local layout helps when planning a visit to experience both environments fully.
Within the territory grow two remarkable oak trees, including an English oak and a Quercus virgiliana, standing as natural landmarks at the boundaries. These ancient trees are often surprising discoveries for visitors exploring the natural sites.
