Palazzo Hercolani, Historic palace in Bologna, Italy.
Palazzo Hercolani displays elegant Rococo architecture with ornate stucco decorations, gilded details, and elaborate frescoes throughout its interior rooms and ceremonial spaces.
Built in 1793 by architect Angelo Venturoli for the noble Hercolani family, the palace replaced earlier structures belonging to the Muzza, Manzi, and Nascentori families.
The palace features remarkable frescoes by prominent artists including Filippo Pedrini's 'Glory of Hercules' ceiling painting and Rodolfo Fantuzzi's garden room murals from 1810.
Currently owned by the University of Bologna since 1973, the palace underwent major restoration between 1989-1997 and now serves educational and cultural functions.
The ground floor houses the renowned 'Sala boschereccia' with painted forest scenes that create visual dialogue between the interior decoration and the exterior garden landscape.
